Frequently asked questions

How much does a solar & battery system cost?

Our fully installed solar systems start from £6,495. A typical 4kW solar PV system for a family home sits between £6,495 and £8,500. Add a 5kWh battery and you're usually in the £11,000–£14,000 range, depending on roof access, equipment and any electrical upgrades. Every quote is fixed and itemised — no hidden extras.

How much will I actually save each year?

Most homes we install for save between £800 and £1,200+ per year on their electricity bill, with some larger systems saving considerably more. Your savings come from generating your own power during the day, storing surplus in a battery for evening use, and getting paid for anything you export to the grid through the Smart Export Guarantee.

Is my roof suitable for solar?

The vast majority of UK roofs are suitable. South, east or west facing pitched roofs are ideal, but flat roofs and even north-facing roofs can work with the right design. We use aerial imagery and a free on-site survey to check pitch, shading, structural condition and available space before we quote — so you get an honest answer, not a hard sell.

What is the Smart Export Guarantee (SEG)?

The Smart Export Guarantee is a government-backed scheme that pays you for surplus electricity your system exports back to the grid. As an MCS-certified installer, every system we register qualifies you for SEG. We handle the paperwork so you start earning from day one — current export tariffs typically add £100–£300 to your annual savings.

How long does the whole install take?

Most domestic installs are completed in 1–2 days on site. From your free survey to first generation, the full process is usually 4–8 weeks: 48-hour quote turnaround, custom design, DNO application, kit ordering and scaffold booking, then install and handover. We manage every step so you don't have to.

Are you MCS certified?

Yes — we are MCS certified for solar PV and battery storage, RECC members, TrustMark endorsed and NAPIT approved for electrical work. MCS certification is essential for Smart Export Guarantee eligibility, insurance-backed guarantees and access to the current 0% VAT rate on domestic solar installations.
